I have been with HostGator web hosting for almost a year now and plan to stay with them forever unless something drastic should change. Their price is reasonable and reliability, customer service, and overall experience are excellent.
I like how there are different, separate portals for questions and billing away from the “real heart” of the web hosting service. Their user interfaces are easy to understand too. This had been an issue for me with the other two services I had previously tried.
Based on those two other web hosting experiences, I was really dreading trying a third, with HostGator, but it turned out to be a piece of cake to set up my account and sites with them. I was up and running with several new websites and blogs with very little assistance and I am no expert at this.
When I did need help it was easy to get, contrary to the two other services I had used.
I always try the FAQ’s first, before going the support route. Most often, however, I find that the search function for the FAQ’s is inadequate and does not bring me to the answer I need. This was so with HostGator as well. However, their support system is far superior to the others I’ve used and you don’t have to submit a ticket and wait 24-48 hours for a response. They have an easy-to-find support phone number which is answered promptly and all of my questions, so far, have been answered promptly, saving me a lot of wasted time and effort. I would have to say this is the biggest plus for their service in my mind.
I definitely rate them a five on a scale of one to five with five being the highest.
